Low friction blocks, pre-stretched cordage and a 2:1 purchase hooked to clew of sail (cannot fit 4:1 in here ) which reduces friction between cordage and the boom end fitting. Friction is further reduced by the use of additional lubrication.
A second 2:1 purchase near the cleat obtains the 4:1 allowed by class rules. This is terminated with a hook to allow for reefing as required as specified again by class rules.
Plastic bead is used as a handle along with a low stretch and low friction clew strop.
